SPInCorp is a research and venture house. We work across energy, robotics, space, artificial intelligence and biotechnology. We publish what we find, we propose the companies worth starting, and then we start them or back the people who will.

Most of the interesting science never becomes a company. Not because it isn't ready, but because the people with the time to understand it properly are rarely the people in a position to act on it. That gap is the reason SPInCorp exists.
So we work like a research house. We read the papers, we talk to the people writing them, and we do our own development in the areas we care about. When the work convinces us something is buildable, we say so publicly, in writing, with the reasoning attached.
Then we act on it. Sometimes that means starting the company ourselves. Sometimes it means backing a founder already further along than we are. We are self-funded, so we can take positions on our own conviction and hold them as long as they need holding.

Energy
More energy, generated more cleanly and stored better, with the materials to do both without costing the planet.
Robotics
Machines that take on real physical work in the places hardest, or most dangerous, for people to do it themselves.
Space
Orbital infrastructure and the economics of working beyond Earth, so that what is out there can be brought back to improve life here.
Artificial intelligence
Systems that help people learn and do more, at greater scale and with sharper judgement, rather than replace the thinking.
Biotechnology
Science and engineering in biology, in the service of longer, better lives, and of restoring what the body has lost.
What we are building.
Companies we have started, co-founded or backed. Where we co-found, we take a founding stake that reflects what we actually contribute, and the founder gets real authority to run it.
Companies we think should exist.
These are not companies yet. They are positions we have taken after doing the reading, and we are prepared to put our own money and our own work behind them. Each is waiting on the right technical founder.

Our findings go out in writing, with the reasoning behind them, so they can be argued with. We would rather be corrected in public than be quietly wrong.
There is a particular reason to do this from London. British science is genuinely world class, and Britain is remarkably bad at saying so. The conversation about what is being built here deserves to be more serious than it currently is, and we intend to be useful in making it so.

David Smikle
David founded SPInCorp in 2025 to turn frontier science into great companies, to close the gap between what gets discovered in labs and what actually gets built, and to show that serious, world-changing technology can be built from the UK.
